Opened in 2017, the SSLI Field Station in Skukuza represents the future of conservation education. Designed to be off-grid and sustainable, the campus integrates science, community, and environmental awareness.
The campus has been recognised by the AfriSam SAIA Sustainable Design Awards and is a member of the Organization for Biological Field Stations Network (OBFS).

The Skukuza Science Leadership Initiative (SSLI) is a partnership between the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS), the Nsasani Trust, and South African National Parks.
This initiative is aimed at bridging the gap between disadvantaged communities, tertiary education, and the biodiversity sector.
